A tail as bright as flames slowly tapped on the stone beneath him. Fireheart had found himself longing for a little rest a while ago. Since ThunderClan camp only made his mind go wild these days, filled with memories and various emotions, he had sought a place that would quiet his thoughts down for a bit. After a short stroll through the territory, his paws had eventually taken him to Sunningrocks. Now he lay sunbathing on one of the warm rocks. His flame colored pelt as bright as ever. Only his green eyes betrayed the concern that lay beneath. A mixture of emotions hung in those green orbs. Though he never let his weakness show, it was there. The fear of losing Icestorm, or losing Bluestar to the cats that wanted to harm them. With so many enemies, it sometimes seemed just a matter of time before someone he loved would get taken away. Fireheart feared to lose them, to lose his friends. He wanted a safe future for his kits. But the kits would be in danger too. In danger of being caught by Darkfire or BloodClan. Cats that would harm them with no hesitation or regrets. He had seen those kind of cats before, hell, he even knew one of them. Darkfire for instance would do anything to lay his paws on one of his kits. The ginger tomcat stood up and watched the ground below. He had heard someone approaching, it was only a matter of time before his eyes would find the other.

Moonstripe sighted, and looked at himself through the water. He said to the others he went hunting, and thank god they had let him alone. He needed rest, some place to think about stuff. It was not that the Clanlife was so difficult, especially for him. Other cats, like the medicine cat, or Bluestar perhaps, had a much busier live. He meant, come on, they were responsible for the whole Clan, and had to make the right decisions. And he was actually glad he would never have to do such a job. No, his life was already complicated enough with that drama. Yes, you wouldn't say, but inside he went mad sometimes. And it was not only the thing with Brightpaw, it was also Snowcrystal, and the kittens. Wasn't he to young to be a father? Well, a father! We could say he was just a worthless ball of fur. That's all. The only thing in life he had to do, he failed in. Don't make other lives complicated, they have already enough problems them self. But no, Mister Moonstripe had to make impression on everything.
He stood up, and turned his back at the water. Autumn was coming, he felt in his paws. The earth was already colder then he was used to, and the colours of the leaves changed slowly in red instead of the lively green. Not that he mind, he thought it was a nice colour. For he knew, he passed by the Sunning rocks, where he saw a strange familiar fur. He only knew one cat that could be it, and with a hint of a smile he walked to the cat. "Hello Fireheart." He said softly, and went sitting opposite the cat. "How're ye doin'?"

It wasn't long before his green eyes caught Moonstripe, who was already climbing the rocks. The tomcat sat down while greeting him. Fireheart nodded in a polite way, before opening his mouth to reply to Moonstripe's words. 'Greetings, Moonstripe. I'm doing quite well today. How are you?' It was the typical conversation he had with most of the cats in ThunderClan. So many of them were concerned about his condition, even when most of them weren't even that close to him. But he couldn't deny that some interesting talks he had before also came after the normal stuff. It seemed strange that he and the others mostly talked about the daily things in life. There were loads of things that happened over the last couple of weeks. Maybe it was because nobody wanted to bring up those terrible memories of blood and war. He understood why almost no one brought up his mate in their conversations. They must fear that I'll break down or something.. The flame colored tom sighed and curled his tail around his paws. And yet those times of fighting seemed so far away. His wounds had already healed, though some of them still clung to his body in the form of scars. Those had not yet been covered by fur, giving him a look that didn't exactly suit his personality. Suddenly a question popped up in his mind, and he couldn't fight the urge to ask Moonstripe about it. 'I hope you don't mind me asking, but.. What do you think of the whole thing that happened with Darkfire? It's kind off strange to think that he was planning this all along, even though he behaved like our Clanmate. It makes you wonder, who you can really trust' he spoke calmly.

The bright orange / red cat answered his greet polite. Well, Moonstripe didn't expect otherwise, after all it was Fireheart. And though he never spoke with him, he heard from others he was very nice and friendly. No wonder he became deputy. For him he had proven a thousand times more to be better than some others cats. Actually, why did he never spoke with him before? He didn't knew, there was never time, or he didn't dare to. Sometimes he was shy after all, even Moonstripe. Yes, you heard that well, he had his shy moments.
The question of the other tom cat reminded him of the things that happened lately. It was so easy to forget sometimes. Or maybe it wasn't, but was it easy to wish for it. He shaked his head, his thoughts were confusing. And the question too. Didn't Fireheart knew? With the Brightpaw thing? He was updadeted since the very near beginning, only the end was a bit vague. But that was only because of the break in the friendship of him and Bright. It was weird to talk about this, even think about it, with Fireheart so near. If it didn't happened. It was all so unrealistic. “I don't mind. But Darkfire wasn't only acting as a Clanmate. Brightpaw, his apprentice, we supposed to be best friends. She told me everything, and sometimes I saw myself the dark side the cat could have. But you know, you always try to make it better, you don't want to believe that there's someone who have bad intentions, even more when it's someone from your Clan. I think that's why he had so much time for planning all of it.” Moonstripe sighed, it was difficult, what could he tell? He wanted to trust Fireheart, but it was hard if you had secrets you couldn't tell. “But I knew the cat had a dark side, but this? I had to tell someone earlier, it's my fault..” Those last words were almost unhearable. It was true, somewhere he always had the feeling the fault was his

Fireheart quietly listened to Moonstripe's words. He was glad the tomcat wanted to speak about it, rather than turn the subject down. Though it wasn't his favorite thing to talk about, sometimes you just needed to get this sort of thing off of your chest. He had never really talked to Moonstripe before, and wondered why he hadn't done this in the past. The words the gray tabby spoke matched his own thoughts closely. The flame colored tom began to regret his choice of not getting to know him earlier. When he was done speaking, Fireheart's eyes softened a bit, knowing he felt exactly the same about it. 'It's not your fault Moonstripe. I understand your feelings, mainly because I feel the same about it. Brightpaw had warned me before about Darkfire, but I didn't believe her. I've never liked him and I've never been to blind to see the dark aura that hung around him. Jet I didn't believe an apprentice that almost killed herself because of it. I guess everyone feels guilty in some way. We tried to forget about that darkness and sought the good side of him. Therefor we failed to see his true intentions.' His voice was calm, but you could hear the emotions deep down. Signs of regret and guilt. Yes, he understood Moonstripe's point of view, but in the end it didn't make things better if you felt guilty about it. Mistakes like that were made all over the world, and the past couldn't be undone. The only thing they could do was be more careful in the future. Learn from the past, to prevent those things from happening again. To create a better world for his kits. That was a goal to reach for. A hint of a smile spread among his face. 'We can learn from the past, to make a better future.'
