''Jaypaw, wakker worden.'' Miauwde een stem zacht. ''T-t-thunderstrike?'' zei hij terwijl hij zijn ogen opende. ''ga stevig ontbijten, ik wacht op je bij de zankuil. We hebben een zware dag voor de boeg.'' Sprak Thunderstrike. ''Ja Thunderstrike.'' zei hij rustig en stond op. Hij za nog net de staart van zijn mentor uit de den gaan. Hij trippelde uit de Den en koos een muisje uit om te eten. Hij at het diertje snel op en maakte zijn vacht schoon. Toen hij daarmee klaar was trok hij een sprintje naar de zandkuil waar hij zijn mentor al zag wachten. Hij bedacht dat de apprentices hier hun vechttechnieken trainden. Hij sloop naar de achterzijde van de struik, waar hij recht achter de rug van zijn mentor stond. Met zijn staart recht omhoog stond hij klaar om te springen. Hij zette zijn poten schrap voor de sprong en zag nu pas hoe groot de kater was. Ook was hij fors en ook vrijwel sterk. Maar toch sprong hij op zijn mentor. ''Ben er!'' schreeuwde hij. Hij sprong van zijn mentor af en ging voor hem zitten. ''Ga je me leren vechten Thunderstrike?'' vroeg hij nieuwsgierig met zijn oren recht naar voren. Hij had zijn staart om zijn poten gekruld en keek zijn mentor nieuwsgierig aan.

Zijn slaperige ogen opende langzaam. Die droom had hij de laatste tijd wel vaker. Hij baalde ervan om nog steeds een apprentice te zijn. Hij wou ook nu eens een Warrior worden! Een zucht liep uit zijn mond. Hij MOEST gewoon een warrior worden. Maar dat zou hij binnenkort ook. Hij zuchtte nog een keer en stond op. Waarna hij uit het kamp liep. Daarna sprong hij weg. Opeens, Hij sprintte en rende zo hard als hij kon. 'Daarna stopte hij. Hij luisterde en had geen idee wat er zou gebeuren nu. Hij hoorde vlak achter zich geritsel van een struik. ''Wie is daar!'' schreeuwde hij. Wachtend op een antwoord.
