History Wintersoul is the daughter of the infamous Blackpatch and Snowflake. While giving birth to Wintersoul her littermates she died while bringing Smallkit to the world. Sadly, it was too early. Snowflake died after the painful and exhaustive delivery, alongside with Mosskit, Runekit and Smallkit who were all to small and weak to survive. Winterkit was the only survivor but got a hold of whitecough. While another queen in the Nursery wanted to take care of Winterkit she got fed by her and held warm. Blackpatch watched helplessly how he lost his mate, almost all of his kits and his own life due to Greencough. It was a harsh and cold Leafbare, almost the whole Clan struggled with the common disease. Winterkit eventually survived but she carried much of the side effect from her troublesome and difficult life starting from the moment she was born. She never grew very tall, remained very slim and somewhat sickish. If there was an epidemic, there was a 9 out of 10 percent chance she got it. Luck isn’t much with her. By the time she was an apprentice she was far too small to become one, and some cats even alleged that her sight had gone worse after so much diseases she got hold of. But one way or another, Duststar made her an apprentice and have one of his strong Warriors to mentor her. Phantomclaw. A broad shouldered, raven black, huge tom-cat with a thick coat and two intense, yellow eyes. He had his doupts about her and even declared to his leader that he was unsure of he should take her out into the camp, since she was very small and because of the snow she would most likely just disappear in it if he would need to tend with threats. Duststar gave him a warning to take very good care of Winterpaw, and to make sure she would never, ever be hurt. Winterpaw was indeed very small, but her mew was louder then any other sound that her Clan mates could make. Phantomclaw took her out on a slow trip but almost got a heart attack when his apprentice skidded off. Scolding her and appearing a bit more aggressive than meant he made it clear to her that she should not leave his side ever again when he was outside with her. The snow had within half an hour taken hold of Winterpaw and she had to be carried back to the camp by Phantomclaw when her paws were full of frozen snow and ice. He brought his apprentice back to the camp and placed her gently in the medicine cat’s den, claiming she was still too weak to train. Winterpaw was allowed to go outside in the following day but had to train inside the camp and always was flanked by a older Warrior, outside camp she was privileged to go within three feet away from the camp, not more. Angry that they treated her like she was a fragile kit of a week old she made a lot of attempts to go out herself, succeeding once and almost killing herself while doing so. At the age of eight moons she had grown a little, but not much. She had trained more then the other apprentices but always in the camp, learning only basic moves since everyone in the Clan commented that she probably would never be a very good Warrior. Steadfast and stubborn Winterpaw kept on training, until the day Phantomclaw took her out for a trip through the territory. Slowly they started to work on her hunting technique. She showed to be an excellent huntress, capable of using her small body to maneuver between the branches to catch robins, sparrows, everything that was high. When she leaped down to her mentor, having a robin and a pigeon in het mouth her mentor praised her and lay his tail in her back. They continued to train, wasn’t it that green couch got hold of her. Again. Her mentor now feared for her life and begged Duststar to do something, but there was little he could do. Weeks passed, until after a moon Winterpaw slowly started to recover. At the age of twelve moons, when every other apprentice and even the ones who got apprenticed right after her were now Warriors and she was still a apprentice. Phantomclaw got sadly also greencouch. Others claimed he was a harsh and strong Warrior but the disease got the better of him. While recovering from it he got out with some friends, only to be disturbed by a Shadow Clan hunting party. They drove the intruders out but poor Phantomclaw was still weakened by Greencouch. He got killed by a former ShadowClan deputy. By the time he got brought into the camp, a still sick and weak Winterpaw got hold of his body. She is seen very heavily grieving next to his body for almost a full day. That night, she miraculously recovers from Greencough. Duststar sees it as a sign and knows only one option, making her Warrior. A lot of Warriors complain in silence to their leader how much she could be a burder to bear, since she was so weak and small. He ignores their words and gives the small apprentice her Warrior name. Wintersoul. Referring to the harsh and cold situation she had been in since the day she got born, and to the fact that from whatever lay ahead of her, she would conquer it and recover. She was like the snow on the earth, cold and ruthless, to ready the earth for a warm and peaceful spring. While sitting vigil that night, all alone she received a dream from her parents and her mentor with the message that they are more then just proud of her. They promise to never let her down, and tell her that even how many times she thought she was alone, she never was. They always would be there for her, to welcome her home.
On a recent visit to the medicine cat she was told that they were worried about her small body, and her weak resistance. After some tests there was confirmed she had reached her adult weight and length. Wich means that she is not bigger then a big apprentice, and that most likely if she doesn’t look out enough she would become much more sick than she can imagine.
