So, this was hard to do

She wasn't scared...Okay, maybe a little, but that was only normal right? They were bigger and older and they could be mean to her and now she was just going to walk into their den? It would sound really crazy to her if her best friend hadn't been in there too. Saffronpaw had been her rock when they were both together in the nursery. The red tom had helped her open up more to him, but also to a few others. She'd gained a little confidence thanks to him. Not nearly enough to feel like she was ready to just talk to anyone, especially warriors. She didn't feel ready to be an apprentice either, not even with him boosting her self-esteem. But that was why she was here, wasn't it? To talk to him. Saffronpaw was the only one that she felt that she could talk to and he talked to her too. He had cried on her shoulder when he'd been scared and she knew he would return the favor in a heartbeat. And well, if she had to brave the dangers of the apprentice den to talk to him and maybe feel al little better about her approaching the age to become an apprentice, then she had to. She wasn't scared when she was with him, so she shouldn't be scared on her own. She knew that. But still, it was a lot harder to be brave on your own. Yet, Soundkit forced her paws to head on and ducked inside. The first thing that she noticed was that it wasn't much bigger than the nursery, but a lot more cluttered. Nests of moss were spread across the entire den. Did everyone have their own nest here then? Even siblings? And then the little, white she-cat shook her head. Of course they had to have a nest of their own. They might still be small enough to share a nest with a sibling when they started their time as an apprentice, but they would grow until they were as big as any ordinary warrior...And she would have to sleep here, with those big cats. She felt really small right then and there and Soundkit really wanted her friend. Her blue eyes scanned the den, a tad nervous, because what if Saffronpaw wasn't here? What should she do then? But he was there, thankfully. She spotted his long, and still a tad bit fluffy, ginger fur in a heartbeat and almost bolted over to him. "Saffronpaw!" She exclaimed with a nervous smile. She hadn't told him she would come visit him here, so really, she didn't know how he would react. If he even had time to spend to have a talk with her. Maybe he had other things to do with new friends? No, they were best friends! She wouldn't replace him and he wouldn't replace her. Ever!



Saffronpaw first

The smile that appeared on her friend’s face when he noticed her made her own even bigger and when she reached him they briefly touched noses. ”Hey Sound, how awesome to see you here! I haven’t slept through the ceremony where you became Soundpaw, have I?” He asked, and she shook her head, but before she could reply his stomach started grumbling as loudly as a twoleg monster. It made her giggle. ”No, but it looks like you haven’t slept at all. Or eaten for that matter,” Soundkit replied, jokingly poking his stomach lightly. Partly she wished she could be Soundpaw already. Soundpaw sounded cool, and stronger than Soundkit did. Soundpaw would be having fun with Saffronpaw all the time, see him every day. But then she would also have to be here every day. Could she be brave enough? Right now she was, but right now could just be a onetime deal. No, she wouldn’t think like that. She came here for her best friend and she wouldn’t ruin that. ”You, uhm, never visited, so I came to visit you. But maybe you need to visit the fresh kill pile first, before you starve of hunger.” Joking makes things easier, right? She though she heard that somewhere, but maybe she was wrong. But being friends with Saffronpaw was easy already, so maybe being an apprentice wouldn’t be as hard as she thought it to be?
