What good is power if you cannot protect the ones you love?
Slowly but steady he padded onwards to the borders. The feeling of other cat’s staring at him made his fur prickle and for now he only wanted to be left alone. Just for a moment but in that precious moment he felt at peace. He had always surrounded himself by many cat’s but this time he needed a break. Yawning he paced on and stopped when he reached the Moorlands. The otherwise present bushes disappeared when he looked further into the distance until they vanished completely. With a flick of his tail he started padding again, hopefully the padding would clear his mind.

I'm not mad at myself for giving my love to the wrong people; they probably needed it the most.
Dewberry let a soft sigh roll from her lips. She had been sad for the last couple of days, not even the snow could cheer her up like it used to do the last time it had snowed. The young warrior got up and let her honey eyes go over her nest. The spiders that she cought had died because of the cold weather, maybe that was why she couldn't feel very happy. They were there for her when she cried herself to sleep or when she wanted to talk about something good that had happened that day. She lowly walked to the moorlands, her ears hanging beside her head and an obvious sad look on her face.

As the tom continued padding over the Moorlands a whiff of a sweet scent tickled his nose. He knew that scent all too well, it was his former Apprentice Dewberry. Again he halted to determine where the scent came from and as soon as he picked up the sent trail he started following it, his paws and nose lead him onwards until he could actually see the she cat. A crooked grin formed on his lips as he padded up to her. “Out?” he asked her whilst padding.

❀ Her friends were gone. They died and the small warrior had her doubts about starclan taking the insects. It made her heart heavy, even though her heart felt as light as a balloon for the last couple of months. Everyone around her told her that they were just bugs, insects, useless. That they were meant to die and that there was no place for them in the world, but Dewberry didn't believe them for a second. If they really were that bad, then why would they stay with her? She had some spiders that ran away, but the six spiders that she had stayed and lived with her. "Out?" The voice of her old mentor made her snap back to reality and she nodded. "Out." She muttered.

The big tom smiled at Dewberry. "We're lucky that it doesn't rain today" he murmerd and shot a glance at the sky. "And there is still no snow, if it starts falling it won't stop for a while and we will have to cease hunting for a day" he mewed with a sigh. "How are you?" he went on talking about another subject. About the weather they could talk all day but he had heard some cats speak of dead spiders inside de Warrior den. And there was only one cat he knew that liked spiders and was situated in the precise Den.

❀ Her old mentor smiled at her and she wanted to smile back, but there were too many things weighting the corners of her mouth down to smile. "We're lucky that it doesn't rain today" she nodded, but didn't reply. Ever since she had visited Ardentheart the last time she had a weird feeling in her stomach, one that had her back in the medicine cat den again, asking Routnose for something against it. "And there is still no snow, if it starts falling it won't stop for a while and we will have to cease hunting for a day" Dewberry nodded once again. "How are you?" Dewberry shrugged with a soft sigh. "My spiders died, I'm pregnant and the snow hurts my paws" her voice was soft and the words quiet. Pregnant. Her ears folded back as she watched her paws, waiting for his reply.

Her silence was somewhat noticable but not something he worried about. Normally Dewberry was a cat with a lot to say but today she seemed.. more quiet? "My spiders died, I'm pregnant and the snow hurts my paws" she suddenly mewed. His green eyes lightened up as she let te word pregnant fall and then his eyes narrowed. He hadn't seen her with any of the WindClan Warriors or a cat she was close with. Maybe it was best to let te subject rest. He nodded and gave her a comforting lick. "Maybe in New Leaf you will find new spiders? Or maybe they have left some kin behind" he mewed before going onto the big sheep that was obviously staring him in the face. "I think I should congratulate you? Who's the father?" he mewed and glaced at her belly. "Come, let's get out of the snow and on some dry soil" he mewed and padded towards a overhanging piece of moor where the snow hadn't fallen. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to though" he mewed with a friendly smile.

❀ She found it hard to believe that there were babies growing inside her, but the worst part was that she would have to raise them on her own. Their father wouldn't even know when they would be born or what their names would be. He would never be as close to his children as he would want to be. "Maybe in New Leaf you will find new spiders? Or maybe they have left some kin behind" Dewberry nodded, but her gaze never left the snow underneath her paws. "I hope so" the young warrior mumbled and sighed softly. "I think I should congratulate you? Who's the father?" The tom mewed and she bit the inside of her cheek. "Does it matter? All that matters to me is that they will be healthy" she replied while he suggested that they should get out of the snow. "He's not from windclan" Dewberry whispered and looked at the tom that had always been like a father to her, tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry"

He tried guiding his former Apprentice out of the snow. There was a short silence between them as Dewberry spoke of her spiders. With swift paces they reached a overhanging cliff that did not have snow underneath it. A deep sigh left his mouth as he swept some leaves aside to make a more comfortable room under the cliff. Dewberry retorted that all that mattered was that the kit’s were healthy. “That’s true” he murmured and smiled at her before his face shortly froze. She told him they weren’t WindClan. As quickly as his face had frozen it defrosted as she softly mewed that she was sorry. He leaned in to her and gave her a comforting lick over her ear. “It will be allright. Nobody needs to know” he mewed and wrapped his big floofy tail over her back. “I’m sure you will be a great mother Dewberry, and your kit’s will be good Warriors” he mewed comforting her.

The tears welled up in her eyes when she told him that the father of her children wasn’t from their own clan. The frozen face of her old mentor didn’t go unnoticed by the young to be mother and a tear rolled down her cheek. Dewberry squeezed her eyes shut when he licked her ear and another tear escaped her eyes. ”It will be alright. Nobody needs to know” he mewed, wrapping his fluffy tail over her back. ”You’re disappointed.” She whispered while he told her that she would be a great mother. She didn’t care about any of that now. All she cared about was the look on his face when she told him that the father of her children wasn’t a windclanner.

As a tear rolled down her face his face softened. ”You’re disappointed.” she whispered and felt a jolt in his belly. Maybe that was true but in essence the kittens would be half WindClan. Just like his own son Gorsepaw and his littermates, but telling Dewberry about that wouldn't be smart. It was best if nobody knew they were half Clan. "But Dewberry, they will always be half WindClan. And in love you can't choose, your heart chooses for you" he mewed and gave her a friendly gaze.

"But Dewberry, they will always be half WindClan. And in love you can't choose, your heart chooses for you" the young warrior, soon to be queen sniffled and wiped a tear from her cheek, but the next one already rolled down. She was scared of what her biological father would say, yes, but Stallionstar terrified her at the moment. He was her old mentor and she cared more about his opinion then her own father's.

As he saw more tears falling down her face he felt a sweep of mercy well up in his heart. "It's okay Dewberry. I'm here for you. Anything you'd need" he mewed and wrapped his tail tightly around his former Apprentice. There was nothing he wanted more at this moment and time than to see Dewberry happy like she had always been. "It's gonna be allright lass" he murmerd and gave her a comforting lick over her ears. "Come, let's find you a new spider allright? Then you will have a new friend to keep you company in the Nursery" he mewed and stood up gently stroking his tail over her back. His green gaze was warm and soft like a father, he only wanted to see her flourish again like she had done when she had become a Warrior.

The tears that rolled over her cheeks and escaped her eyes didn't seem to stop. There were many more to come in the next couple of days. Her body was filled with too many hormones and feelings that she bottled up inside of her. Anger, sadness. She sighed softly as she listened to her old mentor and father figure, but just shook her head when he suggested that they could find her a new spider. "I think I just want to sleep" she murmured. Forever. The words never left her lips, but the way she spoke made it clear that she wasn't ready for everything that was yet to come.
