Welkom in Pyrrhia! Hier kun je een aantal algemene dingen vinden over draken in Pyrrhia, zoals een aantal begrippen, wat geschiedenis en wat de gebruiken zijn die door alle tribes gedeeld worden. Voor meer informatie over het gebied of de zeven tribes, kun je in de andere informatie topics kijken. Het kan zijn dat wij bepaalde dingen in minder detail hebben staan dan op de WoF wiki. Je kunt altijd zelf een beetje meer research doen, maar dit is op eigen risico wat spoilers betreft. Mochten er nog vragen zijn, dan kunnen die altijd gesteld worden.
About Dragon Intelligence
In Wings of Fire, dragons are highly intelligents beings and are more humanized than animalistic. They are capable of writing scrolls, crafting spears, jewelry and construct buildings. Therefore are able to wear clothing and jewelry like humans. Royal families and their servants live in beautiful palaces. So, think human!
Dragons also live quite long. In the books it is not quite clear how old they can get, but we decided on some ages for you. Dragons are considered adults when they are 7 years old. From around 10 to 30 are their prime years. From 40 on their are recognized as older dragons, but at 60 they are really considered old. Most dragons do not reach 60 or even 40 though, because of the war.

Glossary
ANIMUS A dragon with the capabilities of enchanting inanimate and living objects.
AQUATIC An underwater language used by the SeaWings to communicate without going to the surface.
BIGWINGS The eldest of a group of MudWing siblings, also known as sibs; the bigwings is the leader of the group.
BY THE SCORCHING Exclamation of surprise or exasperation, reference to the Scorching. Similar to the expression “good grief"
CAMEL FARTS A mild exclamation similar to dang it, darn it, etc. It may be an exclusively SandWing expression.
CIRCLE RANKINGS Circle Ranks are used by the IceWings for ranking the obedience and skill of the tribe's population. Dragons who ignore the circles are frowned upon by the rest of the tribe and are considered outcasts.
DIAMOND TRIAL A trial used by the IceWings. It is a competition in which a seventh circle IceWing dragonet challenges a first circle dragonet for their position. If completed right, one contestant will always die.
DRAGONET A baby dragon or a child/teen dragon. A dragon is considered adult at their seventh year.
PAIN IN THE TAIL Similar to pain in the butt
KELP FACE A SeaWing insult
SANDSNORTER An insult usually used to describe SandWings.
SCAVENGER Scavengers are Pyrrhia's humans. They are regarded to be somewhat more dangerous than average prey, as they have weapons and intelligence, although most dragons do not seem to acknowledge the latter. They are seen as a nuisance and/or prey to most dragons. SCAVENGER CLAW Sword, dagger, or knife. Often long, sharp and/or curved item that belongs to a scavenger. A scavenger claw was used to kill Queen Oasis.
SCAVENGER DEN A human settlement such as a village, town, or small kingdom.
SCROLL Instead of Books, dragons write and read scrolls.
SLEEPHOUSE A tall tower of mud that MudWing troops sleep in, present in the MudWing village at the Diamond Spray Delta.
SMOKE-BREATHER An insult of sorts, usually used to describe a lazy or whiny dragon. It may be primarily used by non-firebreathing tribes. SQUID-BRAIN An insult, calling someone stupid or unintelligent. It seems to be used primarily by SeaWings and is represented by three flashes of the tail-stripes in Aquatic.
THE ENCLAVE A type of organization or leader system used in Possibility.
THREE MOONS Exclamation of surprise or exasperation, reference to the three moons of Pyrrhia. Similar to the expression “good grief"
UNSIBS If a wing of Mudwing sibs have lost enough sibs, they can merge with other small Wings. They are then called unsibs.
WING A large group of dragons (more than seven).
WINGLET A smaller group of dragons (seven or less).

Their rule
The seven dragon tribes are ruled by dragon queens. Only their daughters, sisters, nieces, and granddaughters can serve as potential successors to the throne, with the exceptions of RainWings, MudWings, and occasionally SandWings. Since the MudWings have a leader in the group of siblings, called the "bigwings", all sisters are loyal to her and will not challenge her for queenship as they are too loyal to their siblings.
In almost all dragon tribes, for a princess or other royal female to become queen, they must challenge the current queen to a battle to the death. Whoever wins the battle will then take (or keep) the title of Queen. Another way is for the queen to die of some other cause such as sickness, murder, or unfortunate accident.
The RainWings have devised a way to select their queens that does not go against their pacifist nature. They partake in a group of activities or games, called a royal challenge, that involve activities such as flower hunts, fruit gathering, tree gliding, scale camouflage, and venom targeting. The dragon to win the majority will become queen.

Animus magic
Animus dragons are able to enchant things, such as objects, animals, and dragons. Some examples of animus powers are disguising dragons, creating dreamvisitors, finding a specific dragon, or controlling another dragon. Sometimes, animus dragons are not aware of their powers. The only confirmed limitation of animus magic is bringing back the dead. However, every time an animus dragon uses his or her power, it is thought that they lose a bit of their soul, bringing them closer to insanity.
Example of Animus Powers from history
Prince Albatross: Albatross built the Summer Palace over the course of a decade before going insane and attempting to kill everyone in sight, including his family. This event was known as the Royal SeaWing Massacre. Princess Frostbite: An IceWing princess that made the Moon Globe Tree, the Gift of Light. According to Icewings, she painstakingly carved the tree with her claws instead of enchanting it to grow that way and often went outside the Ice Kingdom to study trees.

History of Pyrrhia
The Scorching is an early period of time in Pyrrhia when the dragon tribes warred and overthrew the Scavengers, who were the dominant life form at that time. Dragons also use it as a method of measuring time, since they refer to the current year as 5,012 years since the Scorching (5012 AS). Dragon tribes were formed afterwards based on abilities and habitats, including deserts, mountains, the sea, the arctic, swamps, and rainforests. Each tribe chose their own queen, as this allows dragons to get help when they needed it, making it extremely tough for a scavenger to kill even one dragon.
Nearly five thousand years later, a scavenger managed to kill Queen Oasis, proving that scavengers could very well still kill dragons. This unlocked the current war which has currently lasted 20 years. The three daughters of Queen Oasis, Blaze, Blister and Burn, all claimed the throne for themselves and pulled the whole realm into their war. Luckily.. there are some places that the war can't touch, and our quaint little town of Possibility is one of them.

Talons of Peace
The Talons of Peace is a secret underground peace movement created during the War of SandWing Succession, and was to made to end the great war, by fulfilling The Dragonet Prophecy. Some dragons think positively of the Talons have nothing but pure hatred towards them. However, many have no significant bias towards them. Some other dragons appear to not know or believe the Talons are even real.
Not all Talons appear to have joined for peace. Some of them are unable to go back to their tribes because they have been exiled or are too afraid, and some of these may not have joined for peace, others are members but remain in their tribes as spies.
The Dragonet Prophecy
“When the land is soaked in blood and tears... the dragonets will come.
Find the SeaWing egg of deepest blue. Wings of night shall come to you. The largest egg in mountain high will give to you the wings of sky. For wings of earth, search through the mud for an egg the color of dragon blood. And hidden alone from the rival queens, the SandWing egg awaits unseen.
Of three queens who blister and blaze and burn, two shall die and one shall learn if she bows to a fate that is stronger and higher, she'll have the power of wings of fire.
Five eggs to hatch on brightest night, five dragons born to end the fight. Darkness will rise to bring the light. The dragonets are coming....”
