| A light breeze pressed through the summer air. Or, green leaf as the clan cats called it. Vulture called it either. Whatever fitted at that time. His muscled rippled under his skin as he jumped on a fallen tree branch. His pale green eyes scanned the area. Behind him lay the twoleg town where he resided, and in front of him lay the forest that was directly in front of him. He liked to go here whenever his mind was troubled or if he felt like catching a nice, fresh piece of prey. In truth, Vulture never hunted that much in the forest before his disappearance. But right now, he needed some time on his own for a few moments. He stayed well away from any fresh scents from cats and eventually found himself in one of the most remote parts of the woods.
To a trained ear was it apparent that there were creatures around. The soft buzzing of insects, bird who were high op the trees and sometimes let out a call, scuttling on the forest floor. Vulture had missed this. Hunting. Now, he was never very good at it but he liked it. In the city, he did it for survival. Out here, he did it for sport. And of course, eat his kill afterwards as a reward. Vulture jumped down on the mossy floor and started to walk in no certain direction. The trees closed in all around him and for once he didn't mind. He began to slow down a little and adjust his steps to those of a hunter on the hunt. He stopped once in a while to listen intently. Eventually after little than a few minutes he heard the soft scuttling of a mouse. He took in the smell and sunk down on his paws. All right, he had one change at this. His hunting skills were expected to be a little rusty after so long not using them, but he had to make do. His ears went forward an his eyes widened when he could see a small fern tremble. The little bugger was going to come out of there, and straight into Vulture. His muscles trembled in anticipation as he made himself ready for the jump. His tail quivered slight. He held his breath when he heard the steps close in. And then it happened.
All at once the mouse came out of his little hidey hole. As Vulture spotted him he jumped, claws unsheathed. With his feral instinct, the little mouse turned tail and meant to run. Vulture was just a tad too slow and managed to hit the creature with his claws as he missed him. The mouse rolled a few tail lengths, got up and ran. Vulture got up and bolted forward. Again he missed and the creature jumped in his hole. He pushed himself upright an shook a piece of moss off that dangled from an ear. A little frustrated he twitched his tail. It was to be expected. He never was a great hunter in the forest and after going so long without hunting .. well, the results showed. Vulture turned around and meant to walk back to the city when he picked up a foreign scent that was very close to him. He pricked his ears again and let out a reserved but neutral "Hello?".
