The rocks and pool
Is nice and cool
So juicy sweet

Our only wish
To catch a fish
So juicy sweet

The long grass was stroking her belly, while she tried to keep up with the pace of her mother. The sun was shining intensely and Silverthorn longed for some shadow. Behind her she heard her brothers trying to walk through the grass just like she did. And just like hers, their paws where short as well. Every now and then they jumped as to get faster, but it didn’t really help. Silverthorn did the same, even though the heat exhausted her. Her mother, Electra, didn’t look around once. Silverthorn wondered if she just didn’t care about what happened to them, or she just trusted they would follow her safely.

‘Mom,’ she started, when the sun was at its highest point. ‘Why don’t we rest for a little while? I’m tired.’ Her mother didn’t turn around when she spoke. ‘There is no resting, sweetheart. Not today. Not tomorrow.’ Something about these words and the way they were spoken made Silverthorn shiver. She stopped walking and so did her mother. ‘We can’t go on forever,’ Silverthorn said, but her mother didn’t agree. When she spoke, Silverthorn crouched. ‘Death will come, eventually,’ Electra said. ‘But he will just take you to another place to wander.’ ‘I fear Death,’ Silverthorn meowed softly. This made her mother and brothers laugh. Their maniacal laughter filled the air and scared Silverthorn even more.

‘What’s wrong?’ Silverthorn asked, her eyes full of fear. ‘Why are you laughing like this? Who are all of you?’ Silverthorn turned around to look at her brothers, but all she saw where sitting cats, with deformed heads and crooked paws. Silverthorn took a step back. ‘Mommy,’ she muttered. She turned around again, hoping her mother would help her, but the she-cat had now turned around and didn’t look like she was going to help anyone. Instead of a face, a laughing cat-skull was looking down on her. ‘Who are you?’ Silverthorn asked again, scared to the bone. ‘Where is my mother? Where are my brothers?’

‘You are alone,’ the skull-cat answered. ‘You are all alone.

Silverthorn woke up with the laughter still buzzing through her ears. Her head felt like it was going to explode, but she was sure that was not going to happen. What she really needed now, was a big, juicy fish. With a sigh she crawled up, faltered a little and then started walking towards the river. The earth beneath her feet was cold and hard and even some white spots were to be seen. Leaf-bare was coming.

Luckily, the river wasn’t frozen and the fishes were swimming around without noticing her – yet. Fishing wasn’t something Silverthorn did for fun, but she loved the taste of a fresh fish every now and then. Especially when her sleep had been full of terror. Carefully the old cat jumped on a rock in the river. Her eyes searched the water. There were lots of juicy fishes to be seen, the question was: which one would she like best? Silverthorn brought her paw towards the water. The fishes – dumb as they were – still hadn’t noticed her or just didn’t realize that she was dangerous. One of them came pretty close and Silverthorn tried to hit it with her paw. Water splashed up high and even managed to touch her tail, but no fish was hooked. Silverthorn snorted out of frustration, while noticing a small amount of blood floating through the river. She had managed to hurt the fish, but it wasn’t in her reach anymore.

‘Curse you, fish!’ Silverthorn cried. What to do now? The fishes were stupid, but not so dumb as to come back to the place where one of their kind almost was murdered. Silverthorn’s hair stood upright, while her eyes followed every movement of the fish that she had hurt. Patience. Patience is the key to revenge, she told herself while waiting and forgetting everything around her. Not the revenge she wanted to take on the fish. No. All she really wanted was to tear that not existing skull-headed she-cat apart.

When the truck came to a stop with a hard and sudden bang Sang' shot upright. He had been traveling on board of a human truck that seemed to carry loads of fish. When a big box had split open on the way to it's destination Sang didn't waste any time to eat at much as he could. He had for once no idea how long the trip was going to take and he hadn't eaten in days. Cautiously he peered around the corner of a heavy crate when he saw light brightening up the cargo hold. With a lot of noise, two men jumped in, possibly to heave some crates out. Sang hid himself between some boxes and managed to slipped past them undetected. Once outside of the truck he trotted inside a abandoned alleyway. He was surprised to see forest at the end of it. He hadn't seen that in a long time! Some dogs barked in the distance and he quickened his pace to get to some safety. His black collar started itching but he didn't stop to scratch for once.

Sang jumped on a small, wooden log and took his time to watch his surroundings. The forest was huge and for all he could see it wasn't going to end anytime soon. By hearing the sound of water he immediately stalked towards it. He was quenched. Water was something he hadn't seen in some time as well. When he walked on what seemed to be a meadow he stood still for a moment and frowned. It almost looked safe and sound here. Suspiciously he started to follow the sound of water and soon found it. He also found the she-cat that was sitting by it. On a flat rock looking for fish he assumed. He avoided detection and walked past her to center himself at the edge of the river. Pebbles rubbed his belly as he lowered himself to drink something. In the meantime the apparently very old she-cat had noticed him. He was in a clear view of her now. While he kept his bright yellow eyes fixed on her his tongue lapped up water for at least three minutes straight. The cool water sliding down his withered throat felt like heaven! Sang heaved his head when he felt like he was going to burst and with a quick lick around his muzzle he looked straight at the old she-cat. "Do you know the way to the nearest human home by any change?" He rasped with his booming deep voice. He made sure to keep the hospitality out of, as well as the hostility. Sounding kind enough was the key to survival in unknown territory. Right now, Sang's first priority was to find out where exactly he was. He had traveled for at least five full days and five full nights in any possible way. He was far from home and intended to find himself a new home. He had no notion of the outside world, other than what the neighbor cats had told him when he was still in his city miles and miles away from the wilderness he was currently stuck in.

Silverthorn’s eyes were fixed on the fish she had hurt earlier. They spoke about hate and disgust, though her thoughts weren’t with the fish at all. All she could see was a cat with no hair on its face. It was disgusting and frightening and Silverthorn felt as if some bad things were going to happen, as if the dream had been a prediction for what was about to happen. And even though fear was raging through her body, here she was, openly to be seen for anyone that would come near the river. And she didn’t care. For this one time she didn’t care, because all she cared about was that damned fish swimming around, out of her reach, as if killing him would kill the dream. She could swim too, a little, but like any respectable cat she didn’t like it and besides that, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to fight the streaming.

Then at once, a strange smell entered her nose. Even more fear crept into her pelt, her skin… it pierced through her heart. A cat. At once the fish was forgotten. Silverthorn looked around, hoping the cat would be on the other side of the river, so she could run back to where she came from. Unfortunately, luck was not with her today. Not any day, to be honest. The cat was pretty close and Silverthorn was afraid that if she were to run, the cat would follow her and… well… he seemed much healthier and quicker than she was… She looked at him in terror, not sure what to do. Maybe, if she just didn’t move, he would be gone in a few minutes. All he seemed to do was drinking. Had he even noticed her? He probably had. She wasn’t exactly small anymore and besides, she was sitting in full sight. What had made her do something ridiculous like this? After all those years she should have known that with acting imprudent like she had done today, all she would get was trouble. ‘Curse you,’ she muttered so soft, the cat could not hear her. After all, she wasn’t talking to him – oh no, she wouldn’t even think about it! – but to herself.

And then, the cat started talking. Silverthorn felt as if her heart was going to fail her. She could swear it stopped beating at that very moment. Yet, the question sounded pretty… normal. As if it could be one of her brothers asking about the weather. The way to the home of the two-legged specimen, he had asked? Silverthorn wondered what he wanted to do in the human territory, but didn’t dare to ask. She didn’t want to start a conversation with him, all she wanted him to do was to get away. She could tell him which way to go (although she had absolutely no idea) and hope he would leave at once. But she wasn’t like that. Her mother had always told her that lying caused more trouble than it solved. She should be honest with this cat, hoping he wouldn’t kill her for that. And thus she said, feeling as if she was staring at Death himself: ‘I… I don’t know…’ She wanted to sound more confident, but didn’t succeed. ‘I have never been to the human territory.’ And she had not the intention to change that.

At the moment he caught the eye of the old she-cat the whole situation seemed to tense up. Silently he sat down and watched her intently with his sharp, yellow gaze. Patiently he stared at his paws for the next three minutes until he lifted his gaze. Sudden bit slowly. When he spoke again his tone was as soft as silk but as sharp as a knife. "That is too bad" Sang drew a sharp breath "I don't suppose you have one clue to which direction I have to go to find one? For a start- where am I exactly, madam?"  He asked in the most polite way he could manufacture with a charming smile on his face. When he flexed his claws for a moment to remove them of some dirt that had been stuck between them his muscles wrinkled. He always hated dirty nails. His nails would unsheathe less easily and it scoured between his to's. Overall he never took his attention off the old she-cat even though it seemed that way. He wondered on many occasions why cats could be so frightened by other cats just as they appeared. So far, Sang was pretty much convinced that he hadn't done anything to her. He didn't even know her. Maybe her past was the reason why she was so easily frightened. Sang was almost certain it wasn't just his appearance. He was brawny and healthy and he could indeed do serious harm to the she-cat but he thought that his non hostile approach did something. Well she was right, better not provoke me. He added additionally to himself.

Silverthorn felt confused because of the cat that had spoken to her. When he spoke again, he didn’t sound angry or dangerous, nor kind or goodwilling. In fact, she rather had him angry and trying to kill her, because then she would know what he was up to. Now, she just couldn’t read his thoughts. At all. ‘I don’t suppose you have one clue to which direction I have to go to find one?’ the cat asked, followed by the question where he was anyway. This sounded nice, but still Silverthorn didn’t trust him. Could she ever trust anyone? She took a small jump and landed on the river bank. “Alongside the river,” she wanted to answer, but she knew an answer like that could make any cat mad, so she decided tot hink of another – more safe - answer. Slowly she took a step backwards, not letting her eyes go of the male in front of her, waiting for the best moment to run away.

‘I wouldn’t know which way to go,’ she thus answered. ‘I could say, go north, but I’m not sure there’s any two leg to be found north.’ Besides, she didn't really now which way was north. Ugh, she was way to honest for these kind of conversations. She looked at the cat she was talking to. He didn’t seem to pay much attention to her. Good. She took another step backwards and quickly looked around. The trees weren’t that far from the riverbank, but she realised fleeing wasn’t such a good idea. Not yet. ‘You could try that way, though, I think I might’ve seen some two legged-stuff there.’ She tried to stand steadily on her paws while pointing in a direction, but she was slightly shaking from her ears to her tail. Oh, had she only been braver. She didn’t even know herself why she was so afraid of other cats. It was not as if any cat had ever tried to kill her, to chase her… to even hurt her. One grew wise along with growing older? Well, not she, her anxiousness grew with every hair she was losing. One unexpected movement from the male cat and she would run away, as sure as the sun was rising in the… ah well, she couldn’t remember anymore where the sun rose. Such a pitty.

OOC: Hoop dat je er wat mee kunt. Heb het gevoel dat ik een beetje in herhaling ben gevallen. Razz

Dawn trotted through the woods, her tail high and het lush coat waving in the wind. Her paws made almost no sound as they made contact with the cold, hard winterfloor. She quite like the winter, although, she liked snow. This winter weather was more like an extented fall. A shiver run through her. Fall was ugly. Wet and brown, with the smell of dying leaves. No, snow was better. It was beautiful, thick and white, covering up the uglyness of the fall. The she-cat trotted forward, following the smell of water in the air. Going to streams wasn't her favourite thing to do, it reminded her to much of her past, but a cat's got to eat. Besides, her paws where getting dirty. Dawn didn't really like dirt. You should always look your best, was her motto. While nearing the river, two more smells entered her nostrils. The smell of two cats. Dawn made a 'hmpf' noise and stuck her nose into the air. Those cats better be females!

She slowed her pace as she arrived at the river bank. Her vivid, blue eyes sheered across the water and immediately saw two cats; a male and a female. Her eyes became more narrow, as she observed the cats and listened. Two-legged stuff? O my, that she-cat really didn't know what she was talking about. Add the shivering and you have one very pathetic cat.Dawn trotted towards the two cats. "O my, o my," she said, as she shook her head. "I wouldn't go that way, if I where you." Her big, blue eyes where fixed on the male cat, as she put on her sweetest smile. She flicked her tail, so her lush hair waved in the wind. "I could take you to the two-leggers, but why would you go to such an aweful place?" she said, with a sad, childish voice. Her eyes found the collar on his neck and she acted surprised by gasping for air. "Or.. O my, have you got lost on a little adventure?" Dawn came even closer, as she pushed her body forward to look even more beautiful. "You'll be save with me," Dawn smiled, completely ignoring the presents of the other female cat.

OOC;; First post with Dawn, hope she doesn't bug you all to much Razz

Sang could not suppress a dark chuckle at seeing the older she-cat struggle with herself. She really had no clue where to find twolegs. Such a shame, he really wanted to find a bunch of them. Even though he hated the small smelly ones, the larger ones weren't so bad most of the time. He raised a paw to her and sighted very deeply. "Too bad you don't seem to know where to go .. I really could use a little advise of the place where I am currently heading. I suppose I just have to find it on my own then" He said on a tone as if he truly meant every word of it. He shifted position and gave his neck a few scratches. The collar was itching like hell, damned thing! Sang turned his ears backwards by the sound of someone approaching. A dashing she-cat with deep blue pools was walking his way. He raised an eyebrow and eyed her warily. Where did she just come from? Was she from around? "Do you know, my dear?" He mewed, pleased to hear that finally someone knew where to go. The she-cat's efforts to seduce him did not go unnoticed and he chuckled darkly by seeing her advances. "I am glad .." He murmured by hearing her 'reassuring' tone. He slightly pressed in on her and his mouth curled up in a dark smile ".. but I am sure I can take care of myself, after all it is the male's job to protect the .. lady in distress .." He eyed the older she-cat for some moments and then turned his attention again to blue eyes. "are you in need of my help" Sang closed his yellow eyes and when he opened them again he could not fight the urge to smile strangely. This conversation just took an interesting tone. A very interesting turn..

OOC; Not at all! ^ I am so sorry for my late reply! ): also, I changed Sang's age slightly for a storyline I am working with. Hope you don't mind, Silverthorn.

Silverthorn wanted to run off and she was sure the cat in front of her had noticed that. He had at least noticed her discommode and that made her even more insecure. If she only had been better at acting. She would have been able to send him to somewhere and could go fishing again. She quickly looked at the river. The fishes seemed to be swimming in reach again – that is, if she had managed to stay on the rock. But she hadn’t, due to this damned fear that was always running through her veins. When the stranger started to talk again, Silverthorn felt as if she was being laughed at, even though he sounded nice and honest. ‘I’m sorry,’ Silverthorn replied unsure and softly – big chance the cat didn’t even hear her apologies and probably didn’t care that much either. Why should he care anyway?

While looking at him, Silverthorn saw how his gaze moved to a spot that had nothing to do with her. She turned her head and saw a young she-cat walking towards them. A golf of utter jealousy spread through Silverthorns bones. She was what Silverthorn could have been: beautiful, daring and attractive. But the jealousy shifted to pure hate, when she felt the younger cat was ignoring her completely. One side of her mind told her she should be happy about that: now she could run away and no-one would care. But the other side of her mind was hurt by the way the young cat ignored her, especially when the she-cat told the tom-cat that the two-legs were horrible creatures and the two of them started to flirt with each other.

Silverthorn took a step backwards. Run away, she said to herself. Just run away, they don’t care about you anymore. But she didn’t. Against all her own feelings, she just stood there, quivering. ‘If there’s any other way I can help you…’ she said to the male cat, ignoring the young she-cat. ‘For I guess this young feline here is more of a distraction, than a help.’ For once in years there was no shiver to be heard in her voice. Not even coldness, hate or fake kindness. For once since what felt like forever, the early Silverthorn peeked around the corner, being the bold yet friendly cat she had been as a kitten. Yes, friendly she was towards the tom-cat that had been friendly towards her. Ignoring she would be towards the she-cat that had ignored her. And if this sudden courage that had struck her would disappear again, she could only hope she would be fast enough to flee into the forest.

She looked at the two cats and fell how her courage was melting already. Why again had she decided to stay? But she knew the answer: it was some sort of hate, the leftovers of the nightmare that had followed her since that morning. Would she ever be able again to look at whatever she-cat she might meet, without thinking about the skull?

OOC: No problem, Sang, that's okay =)
